Susan Lain Haag
I am currently the only elected female representative of a Region to our USAT National Board. I have served for one year and am now up for re-election. I would appreciate your vote so I can continue to work toward continual progress and growth in our sport at the national and local level.
I am a 22 year veteran triathlete and lawyer in Jacksonville, Florida. I would be immensely honored to continue to serve in a position of great responsibility in our sport. I remain committed to representing and empowering all triathletes, to striving toward equality in our spor
t and to increasing the participation (especially for women) in all aspects of our sport. During my one year as the FL representative to the USAT Board, I have served on the Bylaw Committee, Swim Collar Task Force, the International Relations Committee and the Grievance Committee. I am currently an active member of the Women’s Committee and was elected to the International Triathlon Union Women’s Committee.
I am a strong knowledgeable woman who would again bring to the Board the wisdom and guidance provided by my heroes and mentors. I have great experience as an all-distance triathlete, having raced
over 200 triathlons, including 65 ironman races, and I raced 5 years as a member of Team USA. I was also a member of the Florida Region’s USAT Board. I will certainly continue to assist the Board by bringing valuable insight and energy to our discussions.
Further, I continue to race all distances of triathlon, as well as volunteer at events, especially at local kids triathlons. I have offered my services as a USA Triathlon referee to assist in teaching the rules and generally serving as an ambassador to our great sport.
My current and previous experience in leadership roles, as well as serving on various Boards, is indicative of my commitment to the National Board, as well as evidence that I possess the requisite skills to both express my opinion and listen to others’ and to generate worthwhile discussions.
I hope you would agree that I am well qualified to represent the Florida region and give all our members a voice on the National Board of Directors for USA Triathlon.
